Strathearn Signature and Date Canes by Year
This album shows many but not all of the various signature and date canes that Strathearn used in a variety of their paperweights over the years from 1965 to 1980. It appears that in the early years of 1965 and 1966 Strathearn used only a signature cane, in 1967 the first date cane was used as a four digit date cane, from 1968 until the early 1970's Strathearn used a variety of "S" canes and a variety of two digit date canes, in the early to mid 1970's Strathearn used mostly a single cane which included both the "S" and the date and finally in the 1979 to 1980 period as Strathearn was being sold and phasing out paperweights they experimented with some very unique and complex signature and date canes. As with all of my information posted herein on Strathearn nothing is etched in stone and all information is subject to change or updating as my research produces new information. Throughout all of my albums you will see each picture designated as a DCP#, in the case of the dated and signed Strathearns the number would start DCP1970....the DCP has no particular meaning but the 1970 represents the year that paperweight was made or dated...the next set of numbers such as 4001, 4002, 4055, 4555 represents the respective number of that paperweight in my collection so #4001 would be the very first Strathearn that I purchased. This 4000 series number is carried throughout each and every album and always represents the same paperweight. For example, if you wanted to see the paperweight that has this particular signature or date cane in it, say DCP1970-4605P10-S70 you can either go to the Strathearn Signed and Dated Paperweights album and look for the year indicated 1970 and then #4605 or you can also find this paperweight in the "P" number album in the main collection. In this example DCP1970-4605P10-S70 would again be found under the P10 album.
