Richard More (strathearn)  > Strathearn's Signed & Dated By Year > Strathearn's Signed & Dated By Year
This album shows many of the varied paperweight designs that Strathearn signed and dated over the years from 1965 to 1980. I've seen others that I don't have an example of yet, for example I've seen an S-73 Tropic weight indicating that Strathearn at least began making these Tropic P5 weights as early as 1973. The PP10 weight with a top and side facet and dated S-74 is only the second one I've seen in over 8 years. The P10 S-79 weight is not supposed to exist as Strathearn's brochures indicate that the P10 series was discontinued in May of 1978. The SP101 weight #4594 is a very rare weight in that it is etched signed on the base "Strathearn 1980 #4" but it also has an "S-79" center cane making it a rare double signed weight. I'm sure there are many more examples of Strathearn's signed and dated weights yet to be found.

Richard More (strathearn) > DCP1965/66-4595P6-S-Madder... Strathearn P6 "S" Madder or Red Upright Flower on a Vasart & Strathearn Cane Pieces ground, 3.575" x 2.4" & 18 ozs. Flat cut polished base & concave polished pontil mark. No label. Signed "S" cane but not dated. circa 1965/66. Most likely one of the first of these flower weights made in the early years using this type "S" cane. acquired 09-07-04.
Richard More (strathearn) > DCP1965/66-4675P6-S-65/66-Gentian-0...Strathearn P6 "S" Upright Flower in Gentian blue on a Vasart & Strathearn broken cane piece ground, 3.25" x 2.425" and 17 ozs. Flat cut polished base. No label. Signed "S" cane on ground and NO date cane. The "S" cane appears to be placed in backwards and looks like a "Z" but when looked at through the base it shows the "S" clearly. Circa 1965 to 1966. Most likely one of the first of these flower weights made in the early years using this type "S" cane. acquired 10-14-05.
Richard More (strathearn) > DCP1967-4636D4 Orange Trial...Strathearn Trial Orange D4 weight with a "67" center date cane. Typical five petals over three green leaves sitting over four double white and green twisted latticino strands 3.65" x 2.9" and 34 ozs. Flat cut and polished base. No label. Signed & Dated "67" in center cane and NO "S" cane. Dave Moir informed me that after Vincent Ysart left Strathearn they made a few of these as an Experimental Trial to see what Designer Angus Sillars would agree to but he prefered the Turquoise, Madder and Gentian colors which became the standards for the Flower weights. The original color names were Turkis Blau, Dunkle Rosa and Dunkle Blau. The "67" date cane now becomes a likely date for the beginning period of these D4's production until they were discontinued in May of 1978. The "lampwork" petals were all made by Dave Moir, Jack Allen (while he was there) and Herbert Dreier and while Dave had a Ronson Burner Blow Lamp at home to experiment with as did Jack and probably Herbert, all of the Flower Petals and Leaves were made on site at Strathearn. Dave also stated that each of them made a slightly different petal. A clue perhaps to further individual D4 identification? This Orange color also looks very similiar to the Orange color used in the Vasart Period Flower weights. acquired 05-09-05.
Richard More (strathearn) > DCP1967-4332D4-1967-Turquoise... Strathearn D4 1967 Magnum Turquoise Flower on four double latticino twists & clear ground 3.4" x 2.6" & 27 ozs. Flat cut polished base. Black Strathearn Label. Dated 1967 center cane and no "S" cane. Perhaps the first time that a four digit date cane was used and notice that only four double latticino twists are used in these early D4's instead of the five latticino twists used from 1968 on. Discontinued 1 May 1978. acquired 03-30-02.
Richard More (strathearn) > DCP1967/68-4109P6-S-Turquoise... Strathearn P6 "S" Turquoise Upright Flower on a broken Vasart & Strathearn cane pieces & clear ground, 3.7" x 2.5" & 19 ozs. Flat cut & polished base. Black Strathearn label. Signed "S" cane & owner date of circa 1967/68. As with the prior P6 weights these early Upright Flower weights used broken Vasart & Strathearn canes pieces for the ground. acquired 11-24-00.

Flat fire-polished base with a sharp uncut pontil mark. No label. Signed with an "S" cane only. Has a Vasart Rare Black Cat cane. circa 1967 to 1969.
